Thus, on the 22nd and 29th of July I had the blessing of worshipping with the fine laymen who make up these exciting churches. I took the liberty to present them with some thoughts about their transitional situations.
I reminded them that while it is a difficult time in the life of the church that it is also a difficult time for the incoming pastor and his family. Being able to speak from personal experience allowed me to encourage them to be patient, thoughtful, and supportive during the honeymoon" period and beyond.

Sometimes churches fail to realize that the "new guy" has to learn so much about the culture of the congregation and that it is more than just people's names and a new community in which to live. It's working to be certain that his family is adjusting to their new surroundings and that his children feel accepted. It's not a picnic.
I continue to thank the Lord for the opportunities He provides that allow me to share my faith and my heart with His church. I am blessed.
