MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN A NEW GENERATION

Our services recently at the Frankfort, Indiana First Church of the Nazarene were identified by full altars, people weeping, people shouting, and God's Spirit moving in the hearts and lives of the congregation.  It was a very special week of Revival and Renewal for the congregation.

Pastor Gregg Davis
The "young" pastor and wife, Gregg and Rachelle Davis, have done a wonderful job in leading this great church.  I remember sitting with Gregg and Rachelle just before their graduation from Olivet Nazarene University and asking them to be the Youth/Music Pastor at the Adrian, Michigan First Church of the Nazarene.  They said; "Yes" and began their ministry there with Sherry and me.  That was then.  This is now.  Then I was young.  Now he is the age I was then.  "The times they are a changing."

Frankfort, Indiana First Church of the Nazarene
This strong and vibrant church, running 350-400 in Sunday morning attendance, is ministering to a wide range of folks.  There are folks who have been Nazarenes for decades and folks who are recently new Christ-followers.  There are "well to do" folks.  There are homeless folks.  There are young folks.  There are not so young folks.  There are "chorus" folks.  There are "hymn" folks. There are folks who have never smoked and drank alcohol.  There are folks struggling to be free from the addictions that have been ruining their lives.  They are all there; loving each other, growing together, and trusting in the Lord to provide miracles.  The Celebrate Recovery Ministry, run by the church, is making a difference in the life of the struggling and the life of the church.

This "revived" church is a fine example of what the church should be.  Everyone working together to build the Kingdom of God.  Everyone striving to be a "helper" and not a "hinderer".  It is a church where young people  are being called to ministry and older folks continue to make a positive impact on their church.  It is a good place to worship, to serve, and love.

It was a good place to end my fall swing through the mid-west.  I returned to Florida encouraged and blessed.
